We were very fortunate to have Mr. Gordon speak to a group of about 25 students.  He shared a brief history of the U.S. manned space program up through the Apollo missions as well as several anecdotes from the mission he flew.  He was still very emotional about his experience of looking at Earth from Lunar Orbit, like an expensive Christmas tree ornament hanging against the black velvet of space.  Mr. Gordon noted that T.S. Eliot captured his feelings well:

We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.
T. S. Eliot

Here is a group photo of us with Mr. Gordon (he's in the midde with the tie).
As you can see, we were quite happy.

Mr. Gordon lives in Central Arizona and we look forward to having him on campus in the future.
He is a great guy and we wish him well during his retirement.
